Three thugs sentenced to a total of 14-and-a-half years

THREE violent thugs who attempted to rob a security guard as he was about to fill a cash point machine with money have been jailed.

Daniel Smith, 28, of Drayford Close, Ngoini Dunkley, 27, of Kilravock Street, and Christopher Harrow, 27, of Peach Road, all in Queen’s Park, targeted the guard after his transit van pulled up outside the ATM machine in The Resource Centre in Dart Street, Queen’s Park.

Smith and one of his accomplices where lying in wait in nearby Bravington Road at the corner of Harrow Road ready to pounce on the unsuspecting guard.

But, unbeknown to the pair officers from the Met’s Flying Squad had spotted them and was keeping them under surveillance.

Once inside the centre, the guard was jumped on by all three men who punched and kicked him to the floor before holding a screwdriver to his neck and demanding he open the safe.

The guard refused so the pair told him to radio to his colleagues and ask them to bring the cash into the building but the guard alerted his colleagues resulting in the pair fleeing empty-handed.

The trio made their getaway in Dunkley’s car which was found near the scene shortly after.

All three were arrested and the screwdriver used to threaten the guard was discovered in the car’s glove box.

Smith admitted conspiracy to rob and robbery and was sentenced to six years in jail at Harrow Crown Court.

Dunkley pleaded guilty to conspiracy to rob and robbery and was sentenced to five years.

Ngoini stood trial where he was subsequently convicted of robbery and sentenced to three-and-a-half years in prison.
