LEE Cook is willing to go out on loan as he strives to recapture a place in the QPR starting line-up.

Rangers manager Neil Warnock has hinted that the winger, who made his first appearance of the season in Saturday’s FA Cup defeat at Blackburn, could be in line for a temporary move during the current transfer window.

Cook, who replaced Alejandro Faurlin as a late substitute at Ewood Park on Saturday, has spent a gruelling six months working to regain fitness since his knee problem flared up again last summer and says he will do whatever it takes to be part of the Rs’ push for the Premier League.

“If the gaffer comes to me and says ‘I want you to go somewhere for a month and play four or five games’, then I will do,” Cook told the Times.

“It’s up to me to try and break into the team. I’ve got to take my chance in the 20 minutes or so I’m going to get in games and show the gaffer that I warrant a start.

“But if he wants me to go for a month I haven’t got a problem with that. As long as I stay injury-free this year and the club go up, happy days!

“It’s been a while since I’ve had the whole matchday experience and just getting 10 or 15 minutes was great for me. Hopefully I can be involved on the bench again at Burnley on Saturday.”

The 28-year-old has been troubled by injuries ever since he left Loftus Road to join neighbours Fulham in the summer of 2007, failing to make a single competitive appearance for the Cottagers.

Cook returned to Rangers a year later, but the knee problem ruled him out of the first half of the 2009-10 campaign and poor medical advice meant a premature comeback that has ultimately cost the player another half a season.

But Cook is confident that the injury nightmare is now behind him – and credits the current QPR medical team for that, particularly fitness and conditioning coach Carl Serrant.

“It’s been hard mentally and, when I first got told I was looking at five or six months, my head was on the floor,” Cook recalled.

“But I’ve worked hard and I thank the physios, Nigel [Cox] and Sangi [Patel] and especially Carl Serrant for getting me fit. Carl’s helped me in the gym non-stop.

“We got on great – he’s been unbelievable and he’s good to have around the club. He knows all the right exercises and techniques to build the thighs and glute muscles.

“His running sessions are horrible – the lads hate going with him! If you miss a month, you go with him for a week and I was with him for five weeks.

“I’m hoping I can get a second chance to play in the Premier League and, if I don’t, it won’t be through injury this time because my legs are strong and I feel a lot sharper.”

Cook played for 70 minutes as a Rangers reserve side drew 2-2 in a friendly with Charlton this week at Harlington.
