Queens Park Rangers boss Ian Holloway admitted to being disappointed by his side’s 4-0 defeat at Championship rivals Nottingham Forest.

The loss saw Rs create a Football League record as their winless run at the City Ground extended to 29 matches – and 34 in all competitions since their first visit in the 1930s.

Holloway had not lost as a manager in his last six visits to the City Ground – and QPR had beaten high flying Wolves and Sheffield United in their previous two outings – but he admitted his side had not been good enough this time.

“The first goal in this game was vital. They got it. That first goal lifted them after we had started the better,” said the QPR manager.

“I was surprised that we looked lacklustre when we got into good positions. We were not as sharp or as clinical as we have been.

“That made a huge difference. After they got the goal, they grew in confidence and we got a lot of things wrong.

“It was one of those days where I cannot count anyone who has done well in my team. Unfortunately the last goal summed it up.

“We have been ever so good in the last month, but we do have a voodoo curse here by the look of it and that was continued.

“Am I disappointed? Yes. But I have to take a wider view of things, because we have been very good in recent weeks.

“I did not like the way the game finished today. We looked beaten.”

Two goals from Tyler Walker and further strikes from Kieran Dowell and the outstanding Barrie McKay helped Forest run riot on the banks of the Trent.

But Forest boss Mark Warburton felt that the hosts created enough opportunities to have won by an even bigger margin.

“As a squad we have to keep learning. There were lots of very positive things to take from this, but we missed a lot of chances as well,” said Warburton.

“We created a lot of chances against a strong QPR team who came here on the back of two very good results, so that is a very pleasing performance.

“I am pleased for the players and the fans, of course. But we have to learn from this, just as we do every game.

“We were a little bit slow coming out of the blocks and allowed them a couple of chances and, after we had gone 3-0 up, we dropped too deep.

“We have won by four goals, but it is not the first time we have created a lot of chances in games. We created opportunities at Reading and we created a lot of chances here against Fulham.

“It is about taking those chances. We missed a lot of chances today but we also put four in the back of the net so I am delighted for the players that they have got their reward for a good performance, heading into the international break.”
