Queens Park Rangers return to action in the Sky Bet Championship on Saturday with a trip to struggling Ipswich Town.

Owing to the recent international break, the Rs have been without a game since drawing 1-1 at home to Derby County in the league on October 6.

The west Londoners will hope their return to action this weekend is a winning one as they head for Portman Road.

But QPR legend Andy Sinton has warned the club’s current squad that the Tractor Boys will be a difficult proposition having won for the first time this season in their last game.

“Ipswich will have come away from Swansea City with more belief,” Sinton told the club’s ‘The Loftcast’ podcast.

“The players will be more confident and the manager will be more confident in his team and the way he sets them out.

“I respect Ipswich for who they are, but I am convinced that if we are at it and somewhere near our best, we will be able to get a positive result at Portman Road.

“It will be a tough game and they’ve only lost one game at home this season, so they’re going to be hard to beat and not too expansive.

“If we’re not at it and not somewhere near our best, we might come unstuck.”

Heading into the weekend, QPR are five points clear of Ipswich, who are currently in the relegation zone.

That is a fine turnaround from the west Londoners, who have taken 14 points from their last eight league games after failing to take any in their first four.

And Sinton expressed his delight at how the west Londoners have been able to turn things around in recent weeks.

“It’s been a good bounceback from what was, let’s face it, a horrendous start,” added the 52-year-old.

“To lose your first four games of the season, it’s going to put you on the back foot.

“Credit to the staff and the people at the club, they’ve gone out, used the loan market really well and steadied the ship.

“If you look at the squad now, we’ve got a decent squad that is capable of being a lot higher in the league than where we are now.”
