Harry Redknapp has hinted he could make a move for Tottenham striker Jermain Defoe next summer – but only if QPR are promoted to the Premier League.
Redknapp is a keen admirer of Defoe and was interested in the 31-year-old forward during the last transfer window, but was priced out of a move.
However, should the Rs gain promotion, Redknapp suggested he may renew his interest.
“He was too expensive for us while we are in the Championship,” said the QPR manager. “If we were in the Premier League next year it could be different. That’s the type of player you would be looking for. But at the moment we’re not in that division.”
Defoe claimed his 23rd European goal for the Lilywhites on Thursday night, netting against FC Sheriff in the Europa League to break the record set by Martin Chivers.
