A primary school in Neasden will benefit from a £100,000 cash boost to a mental health charity thanks to the People’s Postcode Lottery.
The donation from The Postcode Community Trust to Place2Be means the charity will be able to deliver vital services to Mitchell Brook Primary School in Bridge Road over the next academic year.
The charity helps pupils to cope with complex difficulties such as bullying, family breakdown, family illness, bereavement and domestic violence.
The cash injection will also fund training for more than 100 volunteer counsellors who work with pupils at Mitchell Brook and 256 other primary and secondary schools in the UK.
Olivia Curno, director of fundraising at Place2Be, said: “Too many young people are coping with incredibly challenging circumstances, but we know that children are less likely to suffer from serious mental health difficulties in later life if they receive support at an early age, providing a cost saving to adult mental health services.
“Thanks to this support from The Postcode Community Trust, more children will be able to access support early on, helping prevent issues becoming more serious problems in later life.”
People’s Postcode Lottery is a charity lottery raising funds for charities and good causes.
The Postcode Community Trust was established in 2014 to provide financial support to charities and community groups with money raised through the charity.
