A Wembley off-licence has been fined more than £2,000 for selling alcohol to a 15 year old boy in a sting operation.

Green Planet Services Ltd trading as Buy2Save, in Carlyon Road, was caught selling alcohol to the teenager, who was accompanied by an even younger boy, a 14-year-old.

Neither teenager was asked for their age or to provide any identification.

Both boys were part of a Trading Standards operation cracking down on underage alcohol sales in Brent.

Willesden Magistrates court heard that one of the people behind the counter at the time was a student.

They had no documented training and did not usually work in the shop, it was said.

Green Planet Services Ltd was fined £1,000, and ordered to pay a £100 victim surcharge and £953.29 in court costs on April 10.

Simon Legg, Brent Council’s senior regulatory service manager, said in a statement: “We are pleased with the result and it shows how serious the magistrates are about the sale of alcohol to children.”
