Labour politican steps down citing personal reasons
A Labour councillor has resigned prompting a second by-election in his ward in two years.
Last Friday, Jayesh Mistry stepped down from his seat in Wembley Central seat citing personal and family reasons.
The married bus driver swooped to victory in the council elections as one of three Labour councillors to snatch the ward from the Liberal Democrats.
In 2009, Lib Dem councillor Vijay Shah was booted out of his party after he was charged with fraud.
He continued with his councillor duties as an independent and was stripped of the position when he was jailed.
The subsequent by-election was won by Lib Dem candidate Afifa Pervez.
The date of a by-election has yet to be announced.
