Planning an escape route could be the difference between life and death if there's a fire in your home, according to Brent's fire fighters, writes Karine Le-Blanc.
Last year, 47 people died in accidental fires in the home and in nearly 60 per cent of these fires no smoke alarm fitted.
Brent's Firefighters are offering advice on making and practicing escape plans that could vastly increase your chances.
