Paralympian and TV presenter Ade Adepitan returned to Brent to visit a special needs centre named after him.

The Ade Adepitan Short Break Centre in Grove Park, Kingsbury caters for five to 18 year olds with learning difficulties.

Ade spent time with young people playing basketball, taking part in games, sharing lunch and visiting The Village Special School next door, during his visit on June 15.

The 44-year-old basketball champion helped Great Britain win bronze during the 2004 Summer Olympics and gold at the 2005 Paralympic World Cup, and has presented shows including CBBC’s ‘Xchange’.

Jacqui Parker, a parent who uses the centre, said: “Ade is an inspirational icon, somebody who my son James looks up to. I’m so grateful for the wonderful care that James receives every month at the centre and the break our family has as a result. We don’t know what we’d do without it.”
