Endless Foods Limited which trades as Papa John’s Pizzeria on Cricklewood Broadway, was prosecuted by Brent Council after contents inside rubbish bags dumped nearby were traced back to the premises.

Dennis Lewis, waste enforcement manager at Brent Council, said: “It’s not a nice job crawling through the contents of bags of abandoned rubbish working out where they came from, but that’s what we’ll do to identify these people and make them pay the price of their antisocial behaviour.”

Cllr Helen Carr, Lib Dem councillor for Mapesbury, said it was her constituent Maria Hancock who alerted the council.

She told the Times: “The Papa John fine is another example of councillor, council staff and residents working together.

“Fast food outlets like Papa John must take responsibility for their waste.”

Cllr Eleanor Southwood, Brent Council’s cabinet member for the environment, added: “Residents and shopkeepers alike all suffer from illegally dumped rubbish, and Cricklewood deserves better.

“Individuals and businesses need to know that we’ll come down on them hard if they dump their rubbish like this.

“If you see anyone illegally dumping rubbish in the streets, please don’t hesitate to report these criminals by using the Brent cleaner app or by emailing customer.services@brent.gov.uk”

The pizza operator was taken to Willesden Magistrates’ Court where it was found guilty.
