The group, which was founded in 1966, rehearse at the Neasden Methodist Church in Neasden Lane North.

But despite its long history, the group's chairman, Robert Spolander said community support was still needed to guarantee its future.

"I'm really pleased this year; it is one of the best shows we have ever done. If we produce the quality and we keep producing things people want to see, we hope we can continue."

Chameleons, which won this year's National Operatic and Dramatic Society (NODA) award for London's best panto, is set to have up to 3,000 theatre goers shouting: 'It's behind you!'

The show opens next Thursday at 7pm with tickets priced at a concessionary rate of 7.50. It will run until Sunday, January 17 with full priced adults' tickets costing 9.50.
