More than two weeks ago I wrote to Brent Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) challenging its recent plans to close Central Middlesex Hospital Urgent Care Centre from midnight to 8am.

I called on it to urgently rethink its proposal, which will result in my constituents losing access to 24-hour local health services in Brent Central.

As of the time of writing, I have still not had a reply from Brent CCG.

Its lack of engagement with local politicians and the public regarding these worrying changes is entirely unacceptable and just plain wrong, as is the complete lack of public consultation. This is a shocking attempt by Brent CCG to force through a £500,000 cut through the back door.

I am completely opposed to any plan to remove our 24-hour Urgent Care Centre, which I have personally used during the planned hours of closure, so I am acutely aware of its importance.

For my constituents who do not drive, if this goes through, alternative available facilities are at either Northwick Park, Charing Cross or Ealing Hospitals with travel times ranging from a minimum of 48 minutes to upwards of one hour 13 minutes.

It is unacceptable to ask anyone to travel over an hour (one way) in the dead of night when they need urgent care.

If you agree with me, and the hundreds of people who have already signed my petition, join me in sending a clear message to Brent CCG by adding your name online at dawnbutler.org.uk/central-middlesex-petition.
