Department is rated 'outstanding' in two fields by Ofsted
Brent Council’s fostering team have been given the thumbs up by government inspectors who rated them outstanding in two fields with an overall grade of ‘good’.
Ofsted concluded that vulnerable children and young people in the borough get better life chances as a result of the quality of their foster placements and the support they receive whilst there.
The team of 20 staff which is responsible for finding suitable placements for children who cannot live with their own families was praised for achieving outstanding outcomes for young people.
The inspectorate also found great improvements in the way Brent’s fostering agency was led and managed since it was last assessed in 2009 – also deeming this area to be outstanding.
Cllr Michael Pavey, Brent’s lead member for children and families, said: “Children in fostering placements are just as talented as any other young people, they’ve just had some bad luck in their lives.
“I’m delighted that Ofsted have praised the team and we’ll keep pushing to provide an ever better service for our young people.”
