A newsagent in Sudbury has been banned from selling alcohol after staff repeatedly breached its licence conditions including allowing customers to buy single bottles and cans of beers.

Brent Council revoked the licence given to Sudbury A-Z Newsagents in Harrow Road, after police also discovered staff sold high strength beer, ciders and lagers despite being told not to do so.

Other breaches includes a worker opening a bottle of beer for a customer, which is strictly prohibited, and a drunk being allowed to buy more booze resulting in the employee being fined £90 on the spot.

PC Michael Sullivan, from Brent Licensing Team, said: “As soon as we recognised the venue was becoming problematic, we very quickly took action to address the issues.

“We will robustly deal with any premises that fail to uphold their licensing conditions.”
