Norwich City manager Daniel Farke says his side’s 1-0 victory against Queens Park Rangers was not good for his nerves.

The Canaries nicked a goal in the 70th minute thanks to Temmu Pukki and then had to defend stoutly in the final minutes of the match to seal a third consecutive league win at Loftus Road.

Especially, once the hosts introducing big striker Matt Smith who caused City problems last season.

“To be honest for my nerves I would have preferred for us to have scored a second goal a bit earlier because we had so many good chances,” the 41-year-old said.

“When they are able to bring in a guy like Matt Smith, who is two metres tall, and they hit long balls in the last minutes you know sometimes a set piece, throw in, corner something can happen.

“We stuck together, we defended everything and it is also good for the self confidence that you are able to defend in this game with a clean sheet.

“We controlled the game, the possession and the only situations for QPR were free kicks in wide areas.”

The German boss did admit it wasn’t a game made for a striker like Smith despite his late efforts as they limited their opponents.

“It wasn’t a game for a big central striker because we kept them away from our box. “Certainly until the end of the game.”

He also praised his side for keeping a clean sheet against a team that was in-form ahead of the fixture.

“Our away record last season was pretty good.

“It is always good to have wins and clean sheets and two away wins in a row is outstanding.

“QPR were here with self-confidence as well. To come here and perform like this with so many players injured, I can only praise the lads.”
