Motorists are experiencing severe delays and heavy traffic after a pile-up involving two heavy goods lorries and two vans on a slip road at Staples Corner on the North Circular Road this afternoon.

Traffic was reduced to two lanes after Police and Ambulance services were called to the scene following reports of a serious collision on the A406 just after 3.01pm this afternoon.

One lane remains closed and Transport for London has reported major tailbacks from Staples Corner to Hanger Lane eastbound.

Officers from Metropolitan Police and London Ambulance Services remain at the scene and are awaiting reports of injuries.

The traffic delays on the A406 are set to last throughout the evening as fans take the main route to Wembley to watch the England’s football team face Estonia in the Three Lions qualifying round.
