Pub hosts charity gig

Musicians performed for free at a popular bar last weekend to raise money for Oxfam. Seven bands got up on stage at the Good Ship, in High Road, Kilburn on Sunday as part of the Oxjam gig. An entrance fee of £5 and donations raised £442.

Cleaner streets in borough

Streets in the borough are cleaner than ever, according to official figures.

The borough scored 78.7 per cent for street-cleanliness in new results from independent assessors - an improvement of more than ten per cent since April last year, when Brent council's new waste and street-cleaning service was introduced.

The result puts Brent 12th out of the 28 London boroughs taking part in the survey - a rise of five places on last year.

Inspectors found both the amount of litter and fly-tipping had reduced markedly.

Farm break for kids

Youngsters got a taste of country life during their half term break with a trip to a farm.

Social landlord managers, Brent Housing Partnership (BHP) took residents to Willows Farm Village, in Hertfordshire on May 24.

Young residents got to see a mouse town, sheep racing, play barns and bird displays.
