Stations top most 'secure' list

Three of the area's stations have made it onto a list of London's most secure Overground stations.

After a rigorous assessment by British Transport Police, Kilburn High Road, West Hampstead and Brondesbury stations, along with seven others were given 'Secure Station' accreditation by the Department for Transport.

Transport for London (TfL) took over routes from Richmond to Stratford, Clapham Junction to Willesden Junction, Gospel Oak to Barking and Watford Junction to Euston, in November.

The accreditation has been hailed as a major turnaround.

Dance lessons lined up

Residents are encouraged to get their dancing shoes on and take part in a number of adult beginner classes launching next month.

The sessions, which offer lessons in Salsa, Ballroom, African dance and Line dancing to name a few, are available in a number of sports centres across Brent in July.

Fly-tipping clampdown begins

Traders can expect to have their businesses inspected over the coming months following a new council scheme to clamp down on fly-tippers.

Brent Council is hoping to reduce the amount of waste being illegally disposed of after figures showed about ten tonnes of rubbish is dumped by shops and firms on the streets every day.

Business owners have to provide valid proof that their waste is being disposed of legally or face prosecution.
