A new skatepark proposed for Roundwood Park will be the first of its kind in Brent, offering youngsters a place to socialise and develop their skills.
Concept designs for the skatepark went on display last Friday at Roundwood Youth Centre in Longstone Avenue, Willesden.
There, local people were able to view the proposals as part of Brent Council’s pre-consultation.
Anthony Rivers, youth development worker at the youth centre, said: “It’s a great idea for young people.
“We’re not going to be open all the time as a youth club so it will be another place for them to hang out and socialise with each other and they will be developing social skills as well as on the skatepark itself.”
He added: “When it’s up and running we might have staff going down there as well, so they can work with skateboarders towards getting awards and certificates.”
Brent Council is working with Wheelscape Skateparks over the proposals.
Another consultation will be held later in the summer.
