Marks and Spencer has confirmed the opening date for its new food hall in Colindale, creating 50 jobs.

It comes in the wake of more than 100 controversial planned closures of M&S shops across the country – though none of these are in Brent, with the nearest in Islington’s Holloway Road.

The Simply Food branch in Capital Way will offer M&S trademark food, as well as a collect-in-store feature for customers who have bought M&S products from the clothing and home parts of its website. A clothing and home store in Covent Garden is among those facing closure by 2022.

The store will open its doors to customers on July 18 at 10am.

Simon Pollitt, who has worked at M&S since September, said: “My team and I are really excited about opening in Colindale and we’ll be working hard to offer outstanding service for customers.

“Cutting the ribbon and welcoming customers in for the first time will be a great moment for the team and I hope lots of local customers will pop down and join us.”
