New landmark building for South Kilburn development but Post Office is axed

A landmark building will take pride of place as part of the multi-million redevelopment of South Kilburn, it has been revealed.
The development, which will contain 50 new homes, will become a focal point on the corner of Kilburn Park Road and Chippenham Gardens and enhance the existing courtyard to create a public square.
However residents will lose their local Post Office as the branch located in Kilburn Park Road will not re-open following the redevelopment.
Last week the first public exhibition showcasing the plans took place with further events to be held later this year before they are finalised in 2016.

Cllr Margaret McLennan, Brent Council’s lead member for housing and development, said: “Our aim for the regeneration of South Kilburn is to create better places for people to live in and enjoy.
“To do this, we want to work with the local community and gather views on our proposals at an early stage.
“The redevelopment of this site is an important part of our vision to improve living standards and make the area safer and more attractive.
“We will be holding further exhibitions as the plans progress so there will be plenty of opportunities for local people to get involved and tell us their thoughts.”
