AKOS Buzsaky scored one of the fastest goals in QPR history as the Hoops began their pre-season campaign with a spectacular 8-0 destruction of Tavistock on Monday.

Buzsaky struck after just 12 seconds against the side from the South West Peninsula League Premier Division, paving the way for a barrage of goals as Neil Warnock's team struck four times in each half.

It capped off a promising opening week to the Rs' pre-season, during which Warnock admitted he is delighted with his team's condition ahead of the new campaign.

"The lads have come back in great condition," said Warnock. "They've kept themselves in good nick, as they tend to do these days.

"One or two of the lads that had injuries last season are a bit behind, but that's to be expected at this time of the season."

Warnock named a strong side for the clash at Langsford Park, fielding all five of his summer signings, and the travelling Rs fans didn't have to wait long to celebrate.

New signing Jamie Mackie sent a low cross into the heart of the Tavistock six-yard box, where Buzsaky arrived to expertly clip the ball into the far corner.

Leon Clarke came close to adding a second goal, before Buzsaky struck again on 10 minutes, curling in a free-kick from the edge of the area.

Clint Hill marked his first QPR appearance with a goal to make it 3-0 on 18 minutes, the former Crystal Palace man stooping to head into the far corner of the net.

With the floodgates well and truly open, Mackie was next to profit, bamboozling the home keeper with a curling effort from the edge of the area.

There was no let-up in the second half, with Hogan Ephraim tapping in a fifth, and Josh Parker headed in a Gary Borrowdale cross to make it 6-0.

Alejandro Faurlin bagged a seventh goal 19 minutes from the end, and it was left to Ephraim to wrap up a one-sided match for the Hoops, as he hit his second three minutes from the end.

Warnock reserved special praise for his quintet of new signings, who have all impressed during the opening week of pre-season.

"If I'm honest, I've never seen Clint (Hill) and Dezza (Shaun Derry) looking so fit. Paddy (Kenny) looks in great condition too and he's loving the change of environment. It's given him a big lift," said the manager.

"Jamie Mackie and Leon Clarke have been superb. They've been working very closely in training and that's a great sign already."

Rangers were in action against Bodmin Town as the Times went to print last night, before Warnock takes his side to Torquay United tomorrow.

Boreham Wood are the opponents on Saturday, followed by games against Equipe Romagna next Wednesday and Ravenna Calcio on Sunday July 25.

Four more pre-season games follow, with a trip to Crawley Town on July 28 followed by a home match with Plymouth Argyle two days later.

Warnock's side round off their pre-season with games at Hampton & Richmond on July 31, and Harrow Borough on August 2.

And the Rs get down to real business five days later, with Barnsley travelling to Loftus Road for the first match of the Championship season.
