Youths strike gold at special programme of team building and healthy activities

Youngsters in Neasden pay tribute to Olympic hero Usain Bolt at a special programme of team building and healthy activities.

The Mitchell Brook summer workshop gave children, aged between eight and 14, the chance to enjoy activities including arts and crafts and sketching sessions.

Participants, inspired by the Olympic Games, took part in football sessions run by accredited Football Association coaches, and organised by Genesis Housing Association.

Sherine McFarlane, operations manager at Genesis said: “It was lovely to see so many young people getting involved and enjoying these activities.”

Cllr Lesley Jones, lead member for customer and community engagement at Brent Council said: “The Mitchellbrook Summer Workshops are a great way to tap into the natural talent young people have for sports and leadership. “Programs like this can inspire young people to get involved in new activities that they may not have tried before and can go a long way to building community spirit.”
