Police say Vietnamese woman will be offered support

A MOTHER who abandoned her baby boy a day after giving birth contacted police this morning after the Times appealed for her whereabouts.

Care workers and police were concerned for seventeen-year-old Van Thi Dam’s welfare after she walked out of Northwick Park Hospital on Sunday, January 16.

Hospital staff named the baby Quy, meaning precious, before placing him with foster parents.

A Police spokesman said today that the Vietnamese teenager had made contact with police and would be offered the appropriate support thanking the media for their help.
