If the shopping gets too tiresome there’s a café with dining tables, soft seating, freshly ground coffee machines and a Big Red Bus kids meal station.

There is also free wifi for customers who want to browse, tag and tweet while they shop.

Supermarket bosses said the format of the store has been designed to suit Colindale’s busy families with a simple layout, wide aisles and a large Nutmeg children’s clothing range.

Jonathan Potts, store manager said: “This is a store which has added services we know will be popular with the local community. We want to offer customers something really different compared to what is available in Colindale so our store has a focus on fresh foods made in store and exciting services such as our one-stop shop Party Zone.”
