Managerial roles facing the axe by Brent Council revealed for the first time

Eleven positions includes director of children and families and assistant director for planning development
Managerial roles facing the axe in a jobs cull at Brent Council can be revealed for the first time.
In a document leaked to the Times, the positions of 11 employees who have been with the council for up to 25 years are named as part of a £3million cost-cutting measure.
Workers facing redundancy include Phil Newby, director of strategy, partnerships and improvement, Krutika Pau, director of children and families, Toni McConville, director of customer and community engagement, and Chris Walker, assistant director for planning development.
Last month, the Times revealed job losses within Brent Council had reached the top tier and proposals would also result in several departments being merged.
Under the plans, which staff are currently being consulted on, the council’s finance and corporate services department, legal and procurement service and strategy, partnership and improvement department would go with their responsibilities being transferred to a new governance and corporate services department and a standalone finance function.
A new position of an assistant chief executive would also be created.
The affected staff, who earn annual salaries of between £70,000 and £140,000, have clocked up more than 100 years of service in the town hall resulting in Brent Council facing bumper redundancy payouts.
The positions facing the axe, and who currently holds the role, are:
Director of children and families – Krutika Pau
Directory of strategy, partnerships and improvements – Phil Newby
Director of customer and community engagement – Toni McConville
Director of legal and procurement – Fiona Lidden
Assistant director of housing – Perry Singh
Assistant director of corporate policy – Cathy Tyson
Assistant director of property and assets – Richard Barrett
Assistant director of planning and development – Chris Walker
Assistant director of strategic finance children and families – Mustafa Salih
Assistant director of strategic finance environment and neighbourhood services – Bharat Jashapara
Assistant director of strategic finance of regeneration and major projects – Eamonn McCarroll

The following posts which are currently vacant could also go: director of adult social care, director of finance and corporate services, chief information officer, assistant director of strategic finance adult social care and head of One Council programme.
