A man was fighting for his life over the weekend after being hit by a lorry in Wembley on Friday morning.

The pedestrian, who is said by police to be in his mid-20s or early 30s, was rushed to hospital by air ambulance with critical injuries after the crash on the North Circular in Wembley between the Harrow Road underpass and the Ikea store.

A Metropolitan police spokesman said: “Police were called to the eastbound A406 in NW10 at 4.59am following reports of a road traffic collision.

Officers, London Ambulance Service and London Air Ambulance attended and found a lorry in collision with a pedestrian.”

The driver of the lorry stopped at the scene and is assisting police with their enquiries.

No arrests have been made and enquiries are ongoing.

The North Circular was shut eastbound while police investigated, but reopened shortly after 7am.
