AN INVESTIGATION is underway after a man claimed he was assaulted by cops who raided his home during a fruitless search for firearms.

The resident alleges he needed hospital treatment after he was injured during the raid in Bravington Road, Queen's Park, on June 11 this year.

No firearms were seized and no arrests were made.

The Independent Police Complaints Commission (IPCC) are managing the investigation which is being probed by the Metropolitan Police Service Directorate of Professional Standards.

Rachel Cerfontyne, IPCC Commissioner, said: "The investigation will examine the planning and decision making process prior to the execution of the search warrant and the action and conduct of the officers during the search.

"We will look at whether all appropriate policies were followed and whether there is any evidence of criminal or misconduct offences."

A police spokeswoman said: "It would be inappropriate for the MPS to comment while an investigation into the complaint is on-going.
