Willesden Junction train depot will undergo a revamp as part of a £320million programme to improve the London Overground service.

The makeover will allow sidings to accommodate longer five-car trains aimed at delivering a 25 per cent increase in network’s capacity.

The changes means the line can carry more passengers and congestion can be reduced.

Transport for London (TfL) has awarded construction firm Laing O’Rourke the contract to remodel track and modify the depot.

The work also includes civil engineering, track, overhead line and third rail electrification and signalling upgrades.

The contract will run from next month to March next year.
