QPR have offered Gavin Mahon the chance to extend his contract until the end of the season.
Mahon, who last made a first-team appearance in November 2009, has been on a month-to-month deal at Loftus Road since last summer.
He has spent many months building up his fitness after a knee problem, and could move on loan before Thursday’s deadline.
If the 34-year-old midfielder does not re-sign with QPR, he would be free to join another club as a free agent.
Mahon has made 58 league appearances for Rangers since arriving from Watford in January 2007. He previously had spells at Brentford, Hereford and Wolves.
