The Notting Hill Carnival featured a colourful mural display from a group of youths, thanks to the country's lottery players.

Brownbaby, on Southam Street, Ladbroke Grove, is one of a string full of groups across the boroughs who are the lucky recipients of the National Lottery's latest round of awards.

Founded by artist Toby Laurent Belson, Brownbaby aims to design, develop and run arts and humanities projects.

Their cash boost of £6,365 will help young people to make their display for the carnival, which takes place this month.

Other recipients include Al-Iman Arabic School in Brent, who got £5,900, an amateur rugby club for under 16s in Brent and Ealing called The Sharks received £6,890, St John's Wood Terrace Adventure Playground Association were awarded £8,330, and Kensington Dragons FC are £4,397 better off.

Debbie Pippard, head of the London region of the Big Lottery Fund, said: "I am delighted that groups will receive funds they need and it's always good to see the wealth of idea local people have for improving the quality of life in London through Lottery funding."
