Firefighters rescued and revived four kittens that were trapped in a blaze in a flat in Willesden.

The tiny pets, which were huddle in a basket in the kitchen, were brought back to life with a small oxygen mask at the property in Butler Road.

A total of 21 firefighters and four crews from North Kensington, Willesden and Park Royal stations fought the blaze.

John Ryan, station manager who was at the scene, said: “Crews worked hard in really quite arduous conditions.

“They gained entrance to the property through the balcony and quickly dealt with what was a very, very hot fire that had built up.”

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
