A Kilburn restaurateur is spicing up his life by running the London Marathon for a disabled charity.
Davey Parekh, who owns Vijay Restaurant in Willesden Lane, is running the 26-mile route on April 22 for disability charity, Leonard Cheshire.
The 44-year-old, who is hoping to raise a minimum £2,500, said: “My nephew is disabled and many friends have informed me of the great work Leonard Cheshire does supporting people with disabilities to live their lives to the full. I’m excited to take on this challenge for such a worthy cause.
“I’m a keen runner and regularly run long distances, but the marathon will be my biggest challenge yet. I have a tight hamstring so I’m hoping it doesn’t hamper me too much. I’ve been training hard – even in the recent weather conditions, which I would never in my life thought I’d run in, but it’s been character building.”
