Residents in Kilburn welcomed the arrival of a new weekly advice service aimed at helping them cope with the challenges of modern life.
The South Kilburn Trust, based in Canterbury Terrace, launched its free Advice South Kilburn (ASK) service yesterday by offering more than 30 residents a first taste of the confidential support on offer.
Residents will be able to seek advice for housing, employment debt, benefits and consumer issues.
The South Kilburn Trust teamed up with charity Advising London for its first venture in north London after residents, many of whom had found themselves with spiralling costs and conflicting advice, appealed for affordable help with their legal and housing affairs.
Cllr Margaret McLennan, Brent Council’s leader member for housing and development, who officially launched the service, said: “South Kilburn is transforming.
“It is important that the community works together to support local residents to develop and grow.”
“I am delighted to be officially launching this advice service which will provide different local people the opportunity to achieve this.”
