A mental health charity worker has received a lifetime achievement nomination for his outstanding contribution in helping those with the disorder.
John Byrne, 65, who works at Brent Mind in Dyne Road, Kilburn, made it onto the shortlist of three up for the coveted Breakthrough National Positive Practice in Mental Health 2013 award.
Mr Byrne also leads a National Lottery funded project called Nucleus which helps nearly 400 people to make choices, take positive risks and take control.
He said: “Success is entirely due to my two colleagues in Nucleus, Jay Sugar and Gemma Whitehead, as well as the staff at Brent Mind who deliver a range of services promoting positive practice in mental health to the diverse, vibrant community of Brent.”
The awards ceremony is due to place on December 5.
