Cricklewood politician says he can save Londoners 1,000 over four years

Labour’s mayoral candidate Ken Livingstone hit the campaign trail this morning in Kilburn and was joined by his best friend, his golden pet Labrador Coco.

Mr Livingstone, who lives in nearby Ivy Road, Cricklewood, met commuters at Kilburn Tube Station where he talked about plans to cut fares.

The former mayor of London believes he can save the average Londoner 1,000 over the next four years.

Today marked the official start of the London election period before the vote takes place on May 3.

Mr Livingstone said: “As the short period of the election campaign kicks off today, Coco and I have made a diversion from our usual morning walk to come and talk to local commuters at Kilburn about my Fare Deal plan.

“I’m committed to delivering 7 per cent fare cut which will save the average Londoner 1,000 over the next four years.

“With little over six weeks to go to the election now, Londoners face a clear choice at the election - a mayor committed to easing the squeeze on ordinary Londoners, or an out of touch, part time mayor who has hiked fares at inflation busting levels.”
