RESIDENTS are invited to a conference for their say on the borough's climate change strategy.

Brent Council is holding a summit to launch its climate change strategy and action plan.

Residents can come along to help decide how the borough should work to limit climate change and prepare for its effects during the next few decades.

The strategy, which is believed to be the first borough-wide community based strategy in London, reports that Brent could be hit by transport disruption, premature deaths, water shortages and flood damage to businesses and homes by 2050.

Council leader Cllr Paul Lorber said: "Climate change is going to have a big impact on local people, the borough and London.

"As well as being informative, the conference will debate how we should respond locally. I urge local people and organisations to attend.

"We all have to start taking our impact on the environment into account in everything we do. But if we all make small changes, it can add up to a big difference."

Featuring speakers from environment protection agency Defra and the GLA, the day will include discussions, interactive theatre and a free screening of environmental film The Age of Stupid.

The event is free and will take place on December 2 at the Sattavis Patidar Centre (formerly the Advait Centre) in Forty Avenue, Wembley.
