They are not usually known for making a quick getaway but this tortoise was spotted zapping down a street in Cricklewood.

Tag, as he has been named, may have his home on his back but there is a bigger home with an owner who is missing him since he ended up in the care of an animal charity.

The Mayhew Animal Home in Trenmar Gardens, Kensal Green, are appealing for Tag’s owner to come forward and claim their errant pet.

Zoe Edwards, animal welfare manager at the Mayhew, said: “He’s been well looked after and we’re sure his owner is missing him. If his owner would like to come forward and claim him please contact us.

“There are things about Tag that only his owner will know and we’re happy to hand him back.”

If you are Tag’s rightful owner please call the Mayhew on 0208 962 8009.
