Sugar Mill is the first small business to open at Forum House

Amid the glittering redevelopments transforming Wembley a new café is mixing up tasty treats for visitors.

Sugar Mill, a restaurant come bar, which has a penchant for all things sweet, proudly lays claim to the title of the first independent restaurant or shop in the Wembley City Forum House area.

“I always wanted to start my own business and when I heard about the space offered here I came down to have a look,” said proud owner Tina Munglani.

“There was no hesitation when I saw it, it was perfect.”

Tucked in behind the iconic Wembley Stadium, the lavish Hilton Hotel and the arena, Sugar Mill offers an array of desserts varied enough to make even the most seasoned pudding connoisseur spoiled for choice.

Cheesecakes, crème brulees and brownies sit alongside more traditional treats such as macaroons and pastries, all whipped up behind the scenes by award-winning chef Andrew Radford.

“The secret is to not use too much sugar in the desserts,” Tina explains: “If you concentrate on the fruits and other flavours you notice and appreciate the taste much more.”

However, if savoury snacks are more your thing there is also a range of reliable sandwiches to enjoy, while alcoholic drinks and teas from across the world are on offer.

Explaining her reasons for setting up the restaurant, Ms Munglani said: “I saw a gap in the market. There isn’t really anywhere you can go that focuses on desserts, but where you can also relax and have a drink.”

The business was given a helping hand by Wembley City developers Quintain who were keen to offer a platform to an independent business to sit alongside the high street chains.

Phil Cottingham, head of retail at Quintain, said independent businesses were “vital” to the success of any community.

He said: “Sugar Mill offers something unique and is already proving very popular with local residents as well as Wembley’s many visitors. We continue to support and work with Sugar Mill and are encouraged by their early success and look forward to welcoming other independent businesses to Wembley.”

n Sugar Mill is open seven days a week, for more information on them and what’s on offer visit www.sugarmill-desserts.com or their official Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/pages/Sugar-Mill-Desserts/408715232520541
