Archant

Police were forced to close Wembley High Road for three hours yesterday after Hurricane Bertha loosened hoardings outside a block of flats.

The gale, which has been sweeping through the country at up to 50mph, caused some damage to a structure outside Manor Court in Wembley Central Square.

The street was closed off to traffic and pedestrians between Park Lane and Ealing Road to allow safety work to be carried out.

It was reopened at 9.40pm
