Plans have been submitted to Brent Council proposing to develop the site of a former office block in Wembley into two towers containing 239 new homes.

If the green light is given Chesterfield House in Park Lane, which formerly housed Brent Council’s education department, will be demolished and two tower blocks of 21 and 26 storeys built on the site.

A total of 239 one, two and three-bedroom flats will be spread across the two blocks.

Chesterfield House was sold to HUB, a mid-market housing developer, last year in partnership with Bridges Ventures, after the council vacated the building to move into the £90m civic centre in 2013.

HUB have allowed job clubs, creatives, entrepreneurs, playgroups and women’s support groups to use the space rent-free

The proposed new buildings include a lower-level plinth creates a C-shape allowing a new public space to be provided off Park Lane.

The 21-storey north block will be 100 per cent affordable housing with all 103 flats offered at discount market rent (DMR), community centre on the ground floor and a communal room on the seventh floor.

The 26-storey south block will contains 136 flats which be sold on the open market and a retail or office space on the ground floor.

HUB has promised that the specifications for both types of housing will be similar.

Steve Sanham, development director at HUB, said: “Our plans will see Chesterfield House become a new local landmark in a changing Wembley.

“By aiding local businesses and creating new public and communal spaces, a redeveloped Chesterfield House will sit right at the heart of the community, while the provision of a high level of affordable housing through a range of discount market rent options will ensure high quality homes in Wembley are available for all.”
