Hundreds pay tribute to lives lost in war and conflict

Hundreds of people attended the borough’s annual Remembrance Sunday service which was held in Barham Park yesterday.

A procession and parade took place before wreaths were laid in memory of all those who have lost their lives in wars and other conflicts.

Cllr Michael Adeyeye, Mayor of Brent, and Cllr Muhammed Butt, Brent Council Leader, attended the service.

Cllr Butt said: “Events such as this always bring perspective to life.

“It’s easy to get caught up in the importance of day to day life. However, we must never forget those people who made the greatest sacrifice to ensure we get to live in a free and democratic society. “We all have a responsibility not only to honour their memory, but also to honour their legacy - democracy, freedom, choice and tolerance.”
