Tottenham Hotspur players have helped kick off a new health campaign by Brent Council.
Harry Kane, Eric Dier and Tottenham Hotspur legend Gary Mabbutt were in Wembley Park this week to meet fans ahead the club’s upcoming UEFA Champions League campaign, where home matches will be played at Wembley stadium.
Their visit coincided with the launch of My Heart Beats for Brent, a new campaign from Brent Council.
My Heart Beats for Brent is designed to encourage residents who struggle to find time to exercise to be more active for at least 30 minutes a day.
Cllr Krupesh Hirani, cabinet member for community wellbeing said: “We are delighted to welcome Tottenham Hotspur to Wembley and to have the club’s support for the ‘My Heart Beats for Brent’ campaign is brilliant.
“Whatever your age, there’s strong scientific evidence that being physically active can help you lead a healthier and even happier life. People who exercise regularly have a lower risk of many chronic diseases, such as heart disease, type 2 diabetes and stroke.”
The Dudden Hill councillor added: “I exercise regularly and my heart beats for Gladstone Park Run on Saturday mornings and for 5-aside football at Alperton Goals.

Gary Mabbutt, a former Tottenham Hotspur captain, said: “Given the borough of Brent is becoming our temporary home, it is important for us as a club to engage with the local community here as we do in Tottenham and we aim to use our unique appeal as a football club to promote healthy lifestyles amongst residents through the ‘My Heart Beats for Brent’ campaign.”
The ‘Spurs Nurse’, the only qualified community health practitioner to be employed by a football club community scheme was at the launch to deliver free health checks to members of the public.
