A physiotherapist based at Northwick Park Hospital has become one of the first in England to be allowed to prescribe medication to his patients.
Dr Stephen Ashford, a consultant and clinical lecturer at the hospital in Watford Road, Sudbury, is one eight physiotherapists taking part in the new scheme aimed at improving patient care.
Dr Ashford, who specialises in the management of brain injury and spasms, said: “The progression in being able to prescribe medicine for my patients with these complex disabilities will help support other aspects of the care and advice we provide without added delays.”
