The head of a homeless charity in Cricklewood has set up a new competition to get Brent residents fit and healthy.
Danny Mayer, who runs Ashford Place in Ashford Road, is launching Fit to Eat so ten lucky residents can run (or walk or trot) 5km together then eat together for free at a designated restaurant in the borough.
The first event, next week, is courtesy of The Clayton Crown on Cricklewood Broadway, with others lined up in the near future.
Mr Mayer said: “The idea is to get fit and to promote our local restaurants at the same time. It’s about getting residents in Brent to go out there and exercise but to link back to good healthy food. You don’t have to run, you can walk if you like, the point is to move.
“Hopefully it’ll be successful. It’s only a bit of fun but it’s an important lesson as well.”
The first 10 residents to contact Mr Mayer will meet him at the Olive road entrance to Gladstone Park next Wednesday at 6pm and take a 5km spin around it. The next day meet at the Crown at 6pm for an evening meal.
