Health chiefs have been forced to suspended BCG vaccines for babies In Brent due to a shortage of supplies.
From today Central and North West London NHS Foundation Trust will no longer take any more bookings for youngsters to be immunised against Tuberculosis until further notice.
The action has been taken after the trust was told of a global shortage of the vaccine by Public Health England (PHE).
Dr Mary Ramsay, head of immunisations at PHE, said: “PHE continues close dialogue with the manufacturer with a view to restoring deliveries as soon as possible.
“In addition, PHE is investigating the sourcing of an alternative vaccine for use in the UK.”
Concerned parents are advised to speak to their GP.
