The head of a Harlesden secondary school has been commended by police for his dedication to the community.

Daniel Coyle, who steers Newman Catholic College in Harlesden Road, received a “commitment, professionalism and dedication to the community award” at a ceremony this month.

Key elements of the partnership with the Met included work on safeguarding and the involvement of “safer schools” police officers in assemblies and pastoral work. The annual summer school, the pupil bike scheme and the work of the police cadets were also highlighted.

Mr Coyle was also praised for his collaboration with police in supporting the bereaved family of a young pupil. He said: “I was thrilled to receive the commendation. It illustrates the impact of the partnership that exists between this school and the Metropolitan Police.

“The collaboration clearly improves the wellbeing of students. I thoroughly intend to deepen this relationship.”
