A company in Harlesden has been named and shamed by the government for failing to pay workers the National Minimum Wage.

Carboclass Ltd in Goodhall Street, features in a list of 75 companies compiled by the Department for Business, Innovation and Skills.

The company, which trades as Lords Builders Merchants, short-changed two workers out of a total of £1,762.27.

A further seven based in London were also named including Ealing-based Rolfe East (Letting and Management) which had failed to pay 20 workers a total of £7,107.43 – the highest amount in the city.

Rogue companies that fail to pay the NMW of £2.73 for apprentices, £3.79 for under 18s, £5.13 for those age between 18 to 20, and £6.50 for workers age of 21 are issued with a Notice of Underpayment (NoU).

A NoU sets out how much they owe the employee in backdated pay and a penalty for failing to pay the NMW.

All of the companies featured on the list have paid the workers the wages they were owed.

Nick Boles. Business Minister, said: “As a one nation government on the side of working people we are determined that everyone who is entitled to the National Minimum Wage receives it.

“When the new National Living Wage is introduced next April we will enforce robustly.

“This means that the hard-working people of the UK will get the pay rise they deserve.”
