Queen’s Park is enjoying a double celebration after winning Green Flag status for the 18th year in a row and picking up a prestigious award.
The 30-acre Victorian park scooped a ‘Green Heritage Site’ accolade for its care and conservation of the open space alongside the flag for its facilities and use.
Managed by the City of London Corporation since 1887, Queen’s Park contains six all-weather tennis courts, a pitch and putt course, a pétanque pitch, an ornamental garden, a children’s playground with paddling pool, a small zoo and a café.
Richard Gentry, City Corporation park manager, said: “I’m delighted that Queen’s Park has once again been recognised as one of the best run and well-loved green spaces in the UK.
“It is testament to the hard work and dedication of the staff and volunteers who work throughout the year to maintain and protect this wonderful site.”
